Chéticamp is Cape Breton's Acadian heart — about 3,000 people across the greater community, on the western coast of the island, and the primary gateway to the northern entrance of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. This is one of only two officially bilingual (French and English) communities in Nova Scotia, and the Acadian cultural identity is not decoration — it defines the food, the music, the businesses, and how visitors experience the place. The economy is tourism-heavy in summer and fisheries year-round, with Cabot Trail visitors, whale-watching operators, hooked-rug and traditional-craft businesses, and the boutique hospitality corridor along Main Street and up toward the National Park entrance. A French-language digital presence matters here in a way it does nowhere else on the island.
