How to Choose a GEO Agency in Dubai: Questions That Actually Separate Them

2026-08-18 · 8 min

Generative engine optimisation is a young discipline. Nobody in this market has a decade of results, a body of published case law, or an established methodology that has been tested across market cycles. That includes us.

Which makes choosing a provider genuinely hard, because the usual signals — longevity, awards, a thick portfolio — either do not exist yet or are being manufactured. Here is what we would actually ask if we were buying this service rather than selling it.

**Ask them to show you your own baseline first**

Any provider should be able to show you, before you sign anything, what the major assistants currently say about your business. Verbatim. Across several platforms. In every language your market uses.

This takes about an hour and requires no access to your systems. A provider who cannot or will not do it either lacks the process or is not interested enough in your specific situation. It is the single most revealing question on this list.

**Ask what they will measure, and how**

The channel produces no analytics of its own. So the honest answer involves a standing prompt set, run on a schedule, recorded verbatim, reported per assistant rather than blended into one score.

Warning signs: a single "AI visibility score" with no explanation of its derivation. Reporting that blends platforms together. Any refusal to show you the raw prompts and raw answers. If you cannot see the underlying data, you cannot tell whether anything improved.

**Ask what they would do in the first month**

A credible answer is unglamorous and technical: audit crawler access, implement structured data, reconcile entity inconsistencies, baseline the prompt set. It sounds like plumbing because it is.

An answer that leads with content volume — twenty articles a month, a blog strategy, thought leadership — is describing content marketing with new terminology. Content matters, but it is wasted if a crawler cannot reach the site or a model cannot work out which entity you are.

**Ask what they will not promise**

This is the question that separates people who understand the channel from people selling it.

Nobody outside the AI labs knows precisely how retrieval and ranking work inside these systems, how they weight sources, or how that will change next quarter. A provider who acknowledges that and explains what is still defensible — being parseable, consistent, specific, corroborated — is being straight with you.

A provider who guarantees you will appear in ChatGPT answers, or quotes a specific percentage improvement, is either inexperienced or willing to say things they cannot support. Neither is what you want handling your public information.

**Ask about language coverage, specifically**

In the UAE this is not a detail. If a meaningful share of your buyers research in Arabic, ask whether the provider writes Arabic natively or translates it, and ask to see a sample judged by a native speaker on your side.

Translated Arabic is recognisable to the audience it targets, and on a page arguing that you are credible, it argues the opposite.

**Ask what happens when the model is wrong about you**

Inaccurate claims — wrong prices, services you do not offer, misstated credentials — are common and, in regulated sectors, materially damaging. A provider should have a process: trace the sources feeding the claim, correct or outweigh them, re-test on a schedule.

If they treat this as an afterthought rather than a standing workstream, they have not run this work in a sector where it matters.

**Ask about the overlap with your existing SEO**

The two share a technical foundation and diverge after it. A provider who tells you SEO is dead and GEO replaces it is overselling. One who tells you GEO is just SEO with a new name is underselling. The useful answer explains what carries over — technical health, authority, crawlability — and what genuinely differs, which is mostly entity clarity, citability and how you measure.

**On case studies**

You will be shown some. Ask when the work was done, whether the client will confirm it, and what the baseline was.

Given how recently this discipline emerged, a provider with a deep catalogue of AI visibility case studies is worth more scrutiny rather than less. We would rather tell you plainly that the field is young than show you results we cannot substantiate.

**The honest summary**

Right now, choosing a GEO provider is mostly about judging process and candour rather than track record, because track record barely exists for anyone. Ask for the baseline. Ask what gets measured. Ask what they will not promise.

The answers to those three will tell you more than any portfolio.
