SEO Strategy, Planning & Reporting in Vancouver

The written plan you see before you pay monthly, and the report you get afterwards — what it contains, what it tracks, and why the order matters

An SEO engagement is only as good as the plan behind it, and the plan is the part that is easiest to skip. Without one, monthly work drifts toward whatever is easiest to report — more articles, more links, a rankings chart that rises without the phone ringing. A proper strategy says which searches you are going after, in what order, why that order, what is deliberately being left until later, and how anyone will know whether it is working. We charge for it separately, deliver it as a document you own, and you are free to take it elsewhere or run it yourselves. If the plan is not convincing on paper, it is not worth paying monthly to execute.

What an SEO Plan Actually Has to Contain

A plan worth paying for answers a short list of questions in writing. Which searches are we going after? Not 'more traffic' — a ranked list of specific searches, each with who currently holds it and a realistic window for movement. In what order, and why? Sequence is most of the argument. Fixing a Google profile in the wrong category before writing articles; making the site crawlable before adding pages; winning a narrow search before a broad one. The order is where judgement shows. What are we deliberately not doing yet? Every plan leaves things out. A good one says what, and why, so you are not left wondering whether it was forgotten. How will we know it is working? What gets measured, from what baseline, and which number leads the report. What does the monthly work actually consist of? The scope, itemised, before you agree to pay for it — so the monthly fee buys something you can point to.

Sequence Is the Whole Argument

Piece by piece, SEO work is rarely complicated. What separates a plan that moves a business from one that keeps an agency busy is the order the work is done in. A few examples of order mattering. Content written for a site Google cannot fully crawl is wasted until the crawl is fixed. Effort spent on a broad, heavily contested search can produce nothing for a year, while a narrower version of the same search might have been won in months and started producing enquiries. A Google profile in the wrong category limits what any amount of review-building can do for map visibility. And in a city where distance shapes local results, building pages for areas a business cannot realistically serve spends budget on searches it was never going to win. The strategy sets that order out explicitly, with the reasoning, so you can disagree with it before money is spent rather than after.

What Gets Tracked, and Why

Enquiries by source

The number that leads the report: calls, forms and bookings, and where they came from. Rankings and traffic matter only insofar as they produce these.

Rankings for the planned searches

Tracked for the specific searches in the plan, and by location where location matters, rather than as one blended city-wide figure.

Google Business Profile activity

Calls, direction requests and website clicks from the profile — an early sign that local work is landing.

Search Console data

Impressions and clicks from Google's own reporting, which show movement before rankings settle.

A Report You Can Skim Against One You Can Act On

A report that fills pages

✗Dozens of keyword positions with no context
✗Traffic charts with no link to enquiries
✗A list of tasks completed, but not why
✗No mention of what did not work

A report you can act on

✓Enquiries by source first
✓Movement on the planned searches, by location
✓What changed this month and what it was meant to do
✓What did not move, and what we will change because of it

How the Strategy Is Built

01

Audit

Where you rank, your Google profile, the technical state of the site, and who holds the searches you want.

02

Choose the searches

A ranked list of searches worth pursuing, with who holds each one and a realistic window for movement.

03

Set the order

The sequence of work, with the reasoning, and what is deliberately deferred.

04

Define measurement

The baseline, what is tracked, and which number leads the monthly report.

05

Itemise the scope

What the monthly engagement would actually consist of, so you can decide before you commit.

SEO Strategy — Common Questions

How much does an SEO strategy cost, and is it separate from the monthly fee?

The written audit and strategy is $500 CAD, billed once, and credited against your first month if you go on to an engagement. Monthly management starts at $2,800 CAD. There is also a free audit that tells you where you rank today and what to fix first.

Can I see the plan before committing to a monthly engagement?

Yes — that is why it is charged separately. You receive the strategy as a document, it is yours, and you are free to hand it to someone else or run it in-house.

Why does the report lead with enquiries rather than rankings?

Because enquiries are what the business needs. Rankings and traffic can rise without producing a single call. Leading with enquiries keeps everyone honest about whether the work is paying for itself.

Can you guarantee first-page rankings?

No, and be wary of anyone who does — nobody controls Google's results. What the plan commits to is a specific set of searches, the work to pursue them, and honest monthly reporting on what moved.

What if the plan says we do not need monthly SEO?

Then it says so. Some businesses need a set of fixes and a review process, not a retainer. The plan is written to be useful either way.

How often is the strategy revisited?

It is reviewed in the monthly report against what actually moved, and the order is adjusted when the evidence says it should be.
